My husband is a contractor and I'm pretty handy too. Anyone able to tell me how to build a solar heater for our above ground 18ft round pool?

I think the water is rushing through the 2- 4 feet / 20 foot panels to quickly and the water is not getting a chance to heat up. similar to a automotive cooling system. someone sugested installing a diverter valve between the solar heater and the pool return so i can regulate the flow of water going through the heater. My pool is a 24 round above ground and I live in the NY area Thank You in advance.

I have been reading on the net about making a solar pool heater by placing black pipe on a black painted sheet of plywood with a glass / perspex cover over it , and pumping the pool water around it to heat it up, seems like it will work just wanted to know has anyone ever done this and did it work ?

Our gas pool heater adds a huge cost onto our gas bill. It needs maintenance now. Has anyone set up one of the solar pool heaters. They look cheap & not very durable - but do they work?
